What participants shared
Reviews from students who joined the Essentials Session, four-week course and full programme.
Ahmad Farhan
Undergraduate, UiTM Shah Alam
"I joined the four-week course during my second year. Before that, I genuinely had no idea how to budget around my PTPTN allowance and the part-time income I was picking up. The peer sessions made me realise I was not alone — most of us in the group had the same questions and just never had a proper space to ask them."

Nurul Rashidah
Final year, Universiti Malaya
"I did the complete programme in my final year because I was honestly nervous about what happens financially when you start working. The graduation module was the most useful thing — understanding my first payslip before I received one, knowing what EPF deductions look like, that kind of thing. The three months of group support afterwards also helped when things came up."

Rajesh Kumar
Second year, Sunway University
"The Essentials Session was a good introduction. I appreciated that it was just two hours — I was worried it would be a whole day commitment I could not fit in. The term-planner sheet is something I still use. If I am being honest, there were moments where I wanted to go a bit deeper on some topics, which is probably why they have the four-week course too."

Siti Wanida
Parent of Form 5 student, Subang Jaya
"I enquired on behalf of my daughter who is heading into matriculation. The team were patient explaining the session content before we committed. She came away with her term-planner and actually used it to talk to me about her budget — which was not something that had happened before. It felt calm and sensible, not like a sales pitch."

Hakim Zulkifli
Recent graduate, Shah Alam
"I did the full programme in my final semester. The combination of workshops and self-paced modules worked well for me — I could go through the modules on my own schedule and then bring questions to the group sessions. The handbook is still on my desk. What I found most valuable was just having the space to ask things I felt I should already know."

Parvathi Pillai
Third year, HELP University
"The Campus Money Skills course was useful and well-organised. I liked that the reading materials were short — I do not have time for long articles during semester. The Week 2 content on reading bank statements was something I had never thought about before. My one suggestion would be a bit more time on the saving habits week."

Participant journeys
A closer look at how individual students engaged with the programmes and what shifted.
Challenge
Ahmad — a second-year student in Shah Alam — received a PTPTN allowance each semester but ran out of funds by week seven or eight every time. He did not know how to structure his spending across the term and found himself relying on family top-ups consistently.
What he did
Ahmad joined the Campus Money Skills Course. The first week introduced him to term mapping — laying out all fixed costs (rent, transport, food) against his semester allowance before it arrived. The peer group session in week three helped him see how others in similar situations approached small discretionary savings.
Outcome
By the following semester, Ahmad had stopped needing the family top-ups. He attributed this to having a written term plan before spending began rather than tracking after the fact. He joined the full programme the following year to prepare for his first job.
"Seeing it laid out on paper in week one changed how I thought about the whole semester."
Challenge
Nurul was completing her final year and had a job offer lined up — but felt entirely unprepared for what a salary and its deductions would look like in practice. She had never read a payslip and found EPF and SOCSO terminology confusing in online sources.
What she did
Nurul enrolled in the Complete Programme in her final semester. The graduation readiness content addressed exactly her situation — reading a payslip, understanding what EPF contributions look like over time and how to set up an independent budget from a first salary. She stayed active in the three-month group support after her graduation.
Outcome
Nurul started her first role with a written budget already in place. She used the group support channel during her first month to ask about a payslip item she did not recognise — and got a clear explanation from the community without having to feel awkward asking a colleague.
"I started work knowing what to expect. That made the first month a lot less overwhelming."
